The teaching portion of this project began in 2013. Since then, funds from the National Science Foundation, Mellon Foundation, and University of California have supported undergraduate and graduate field excursions to the Coal Oil Point Reserve, Kenneth S. Norris Rancho Marino Reserve, Santa Cruz Island Reserve, Valentine Eastern Sierra Reserve, and Yosemite Field Station. To-date, such field trips have included site visits, facility tours, meetings with local environmental experts, hands-on outdoor activities, and guest lectures. In the future, we also plan to use the materials described on this site to support student-led research, outreach, and multi-media projects.
