James San Jacinto Mountains Reserve

Information

James San Jacinto Mountains Reserve (JSJ) is located in Riverside County in the mountains between Palm Desert and Helmet. The site was sold to the UC as a reserve in 1966 after a long history of use for logging, homesteading, and group camping. JSJ operates a satellite reserve, the Oasis de Los Osos (OLO), in Riverside County northwest of Palm Springs. OLO is operated in cooperation with The Nature Conservancy (TNC). Most archival collections pertaining to the sites have been transferred to the Department Special Collections on the campus of the University of California, Riverside.
