Angelo Reserve Library Collection

Abstract

Diverse collection of administrative, operational, and historical records related to the Northern California Coast Range Preserve (NCCRP) and Angelo Coast Range Reserve.

Collection consists of: (1) maps, including property and vegetation maps of the reserve and surrounding areas from 1966-92, (2) photographs, including aerial and miscellaneous images taken by Sharon Johnson  from the 1960s and 1970s, (3) property files, including use agreements, facilities information, information on the Angelo home’s historical designation, correspondence with Heath and Homer Angelo  from 1980-83, tax information, legal documents, and information files on adjacent properties, (4) administrative files from The Nature Conservancy (TNC), (5) correspondence and between the TNC and Bureau of Land Management, (6) NRS administrative files dating from 1990-1997, including manager’s workshops, information on NSF funding, campus committee meetings, use applications, and policies, (7) information on the ecology and natural history of the site, dating back to its time as the NCCRP, including published research and dissertations from 1964-91, (8) files related to the UNESCO Man and the Biosphere Program (MAB), and (9) assorted files on reserve’s history, including the establishment of the NCCRP in 1957-63, the dedication of a plaque and memorial area to Joseph and Hilda Grinnell on the NCCRP in 1966, project proposals and reserve plans, an archeological survey from 1975, and the TNC’s involvement with Center for Field Research’s Earth Watch Program in 1981-82.
